The weekend starts a little early around Telara this week. From Wednesday, July 25th to Sunday, July 29th, Trion’s hosting a special Conquest event, and inviting everyone to take part. The team is even giving players with previous subscriptions a few days of free, unrestricted game access. Conquest itself doesn’t seem like it will receive any special limited time bonuses during the event, but there will be special titles obtainable for players who take part. And just in case you’ve ever wanted to chase after a RIFT developer and smash them in the face with a virtual sword– well, now’s your chance!
Here’s the official announcement:
RIFT 1.9: CONQUEST is hot out the gates and Ascended across Telara have descended upon Stillmoor for an inter-dimensional battle royale!
Starting Tuesday, July 24th through Sunday, July 29th you can earn several titles for yourself by competing in Conquest. Kill, craft, and capture your way to victory all weekend long as you sink your teeth into 3 Faction PvP!
Titles are earned by playing your favorite faction all week long – or play one faction each day for at least 3 of the days and earn all three titles! The top crafters in Conquest each day even have their own special title for helping the war efforts:
Titles will be awarded within 2 weeks of the conclusion of the event.
As an added bonus – each Wargroup will have a chance to play with and against the devs themselves! Check the schedule below for when you have a chance to play – we realize not everyone will be able to attend so we’ll try and capture some of the action live on our Twitch.tv channel!

On the RIFT forums, there seems to be some confusion about the exact requirements for the faction titles:
“Please explain this. Those titles don’t make sense.
It sounds like you can only play one faction for the entire day. So playing for 3 day (a different faction each) would get your titles. But there’s more then one way to see it.”
We’ll likely see an update later in the day that delves more into the specifics. Check here for any additional information.
Players are also a little confused about the crafting title and the fact that it will undoubtedly cause some competition among crafters. Competition for crafting in Conquest might seem like a good idea on paper, since not everyone takes part in the actual workbench-required crafting, but then again– not everyone is meant to. It’s kind of a stay-in-your-base activity, and potential battles over the workbench in a PvP match seem a little silly. If players were able to craft anywhere on the field a competitive title like this might make a lot more sense. Making sourcestone gathering count would also help.
We’ll have to see if Trion adjusts any of this. Regardless, it will be pretty entertaining to see which Trion devs take part, and watch the battles ensue.
