Storm Legion Cleric Leveling Guide: The Energizer

By on Nov 25, 2012 at 3:19 pm, in Article, Cleric, Guides, RIFT  |  Comments: 13 comments

Being new to the world of Telara is a daunting experience, looking at all those high level Clerics with their shiny armour wandering around on fantastic mounts bristling with weapons and virtually aglow with magic can be enough to cause the new Cleric  to think they can never be that good.

Fear not the challenge, for here is a way to beat the levelling woe’s and become one of those Clerics you first looked up to.

This guide is set out to make the transition from level 10 to level 60 as painless as possible if you have to do it Solo or with a friend. So the first thing you need to do is get out of the starting zone by following the quest line and get to today’s Telara, you should be around level 8 when you emerge, I’d suggest following the quest line till you get to level 10 then you can reset your souls to take advantage of this guide.

Level 10 Build –  3 Inquisitor/10 Justicar/0 Shaman

Single target Macro

#show bolt of radiance
suppressmacrofailures
cast bolt of radiance
cast strike of judgment

Healing Macro

#show Doctrine of Bliss
suppressmacrofailures
cast Doctrine of Bliss

Buffs to Keep Active

Strategy:
Fairly straight forward at this level. You use Vex to pull mobs (this is a DOT ~ Damage Over Time~ spell) and then spam your single target macro until the target is dead. You have no AoE abilities at this level so keep your pulls to single target. Use your Healing Macro as you see fit to keep alive.

Level 15 Build – 10 inquisitor/10 justicar/0 shaman

Single target Macro

#show Sanction Heretic
suppressmacrofailures
cast sanction heretic
cast bolt of radiance
cast strike of judgment

Buffs to Keep Active

Strategy:
Exact same as level 10, new spell “Sanction Heretic” added to Single target Macro.

Level 20 Build –  14 inquisitor/10 justicar/ 2 shaman

Buffs to Keep Active

Strategy:
Make sure you have the buff “Shroud of Agony” up when fighting multiple mobs and always pull with Vex where possible as this heals you for 6% of your max health over the duration, otherwise just as before. Just remember to Vex everything to keep your health topped up.

Level 25 Build –  20 inquisitor/10 justicar/3 shaman

AoE Macro

#show soul drain
suppressmacrofailures
cast soul drain

Buffs to Keep Active

Strategy:
Pretty much the same as before, Vex and then spam your new AoE macro if fighting multiple enemies or use your Single Target Macro when there is only one.

You can now use Harsh Disciplin as well as your Healing macro to heal yourself. Remember to make sure you have “Shroud of Agony” on if you are fighting multiple enemies.

Level 30 Build –  20 inquisitor/10 justicar/10 shaman

Single Target Macro

#show Sanction Heretic
suppressmacrofailures
cast sanction heretic
cast massive blow
cast bolt of radiance
cast strike of judgment

Buffs to Keep Active

Strategy:
You now have Ride the Lightning to get you into the fight quicker,it also damages the targeted enemy and damages all others on the way past. Also useful for breaking out of any movement imparing effects.Otherwise, as before, tag with vex to heal yourself and mash single/aoe macro

Level 35 Build –  20 inquisitor/13 justicar/13 shaman

Single Target Macro

#show Sanction Heretic
suppressmacrofailures
cast Sanction Heretic
cast Massive Blow
cast Bolt of Radiance
cast strike of judgment
cast ekkehard’s grasp

Healing Macro

#show Glacial Shield
suppressmacrofailures
cast Glacial Shield
cast Doctrine of Bliss

Buffs to Keep Active

Strategy:
Use Glacial Shield on a pull, otherwise it’s the same as before, this time your single target macro has a ranged attack in it so any mobs out of melee range, you cast ekkehard’s grasp doing 115+ damage to them.

Level 40 Build –  20 inquisitor/16 justicar/17 shaman

AoE Macro

#show Soul Drain
suppressmacrofailures
cast Soul Drain
cast Even Justice

Buffs to Keep Active

Strategy:
Not much new here except your AoE macro can now be spammed. Remember to cast Vex on your targets to keep the healing flowing, Doctrine of Bliss when you need a quick boost. Don’t forget Harsh Disciplin when the last target is nearly dead to finish it off and heal yourself.

Level 45 Build – 20 inquisitor/19 Justicar/20 shaman

Buffs to Keep Active

Strategy:
No major changes….keep at it…

Level 50 Build – 20 inquisitor/25 justicar/21 shaman

Buffs to Keep Active

Strategy:
Tag as many targets as possible with vex. Use Ride the Lightning if possible when you get snared. Gather the mobs up and try to have them all face you. Mash your AoE macro until all dead; use your ST macro if there’s a straggler or two. If you get really low on health use doctrine of bliss a few times. When low on mana, hit purpose immediately after a soul drain for quick mana recharge.

Level 55 Build –  20 inquisitor/26 justicar/25 shaman

Single target – OPTIONAL

#show Sanction Heretic
suppressmacrofailures
cast Sanction Heretic
cast Massive Blow
cast Bolt of Radiance
cast Jolt
cast strike of judgment
cast ekkehard’s grasp

Buffs to Keep Active

Strategy:
If you run into Mana problems, cast “Ageless Ice” to recover 7% of your mana. “Jolt ” is a big hit if you activate it when it procs off, The macro above is for those people that don’t want to have another button to press. If you want to do more damage though, keep it on a separate key to cast “Jolt” when it Procs for a 50% damage increase.

You also now have “Interdict” – An AoE Interupt, works well in PVP and PVE with a 10 second cooldown

Word to the wise, the mobs start hitting like a truck from now on, until you know you can handle them, pick your target with caution, nothing worse that attacking a higher level mob, nearly beating it down, then it’s friends jump in and paste you to the floor.

Level 60 Build –  20 inquisitor/26 justicar/30 shaman

Buffs to Keep Active

Strategy:
Apart from the new buff “Heart of the Frozen Sea” you get another interrupt, “Bitter Wind” , this is a Single Target interrupt, for those times when you just need to stop someone after you have already interrupted the crowd..

Oh, and welcome to level 60

What weapons would you use? S/B if you’re stating at level 50 with this guide into SL? Also any particular states I should focus on while leveling to make this optimal? Thanks!

I’d say you’d generally be safe with a 2hander, but if the going gets tough, you could also try S/B. As far as state, you mean buffs? Keep up Mein of Honor for the healing bump, then just make sure all of your other 1hr buffs are up. :D

For some reason, Ekkehard’s Grasp will not work in that macro. I keep getting an error saying it is an unknown ability, even though I have the ability and it is spelled correctly in the macro.

    • RoflLol

Use ‘ instead of ´ in the macro.

      • Rinlahn

Can you explain mroe? Where do i put instead of?

        • Smelly Hobo

          Ekkehard’s Grasp, not Ekkehard´s Grasp.

An easier way is to just write (in the macro)
          “cast ”
and then hold down shift and click the ability. That should add its name instead of you needing to write it out.

this build is good for leveling in 2.3?

  • doomblaster

I gotta say good job on this build. I just came back to rift after 2 years (played at release for a few months). I remember leveling rogue was such slow going, especially since you didn’t have much aoe after they nerfed sabs.

this is literally a face-roll build which is complement imo. you don’t need to think about it, just mash 2 or 3 buttons and slice through groups

one question: what do you recommend for a dps dungeon build?

    • Laura Hardgrave

If you enjoy ranged combat, Inquisitor’s a good way to go. If you’re more into melee, either Shaman or Druid would work just fine. Druid’s a little more versatile for soloing purposes (and has pets) while Shaman has a little more DPS.

  • azaz

ekke didnt work for me i dont know why …. macro just ignore that skill and i do it right .. :S

    • Seriise

What you can do is open the macro menu, then open the spells menu.
Put and click your cursor over where you want the ekke spell to be in the macro line,
then drag and drop the ekke spell from the spells list

  • Seriise

About this build, I found that you’d need a more beefier armor set. This isn’t for healers/ranged dps who wants to try melee. You’ll be quite squishy.
