Defiance has launched it first real publicity push for launch coming this April in the form of Von Bach Industries. With it’s recent launch, you begin getting into what Defiance is actually bringing you, melding live TV action with in game abilities. The website gives us a preview of what we should expect when watching the TV show and how it may translate it into the game.
Van Bach Industries is introduced to us as a company that was present at the beginning of the Wars that changed the world. Since then, they have been at the forefront of developing technology including EGO, a bio-engineered implant that gives ordinary people higher reflexes, abilities and much more. EGO is made out to be a player’s source of abilities and bridges the gap between a video game’s UI and heads-up display in the TV show.
The whole site is a fantastic bridge between a video game’s lore and background story and the set up for the TV show coming on Syfy. The website hosts a small collection of videos by Van Bach Industries (VBI) that introduce you to player abilities using actors. You get a real sense that Trion and Syfy are going all out to introduce this game to the public as it’s bridging what is normally done with in-game footage with live actors.
With the video that introduces EGO, we get to see a live actor play out some pretty nifty moves that you will expect to see in the video game.
The website is also opening up Beta registration, allowing future Ark Hunters to select between Xbox, PC and PS3. Beta will begin 28 days from now (12/21/12) as shown by the countdown clock on the front page.
If you have any interest in both the game and the TV show, this website is an impressive immersive experience that is a lore and roleplayers dream.
Stay tuned for more information as it’s available.
