carnival games new

As part of RIFT 2.2’s Hotfix #3 yesterday, we received a slight boost to the amount of Prize Tickets most Carnival of the Ascended games offer. After seeing forum threads like this one, Trion finally broke down and realized many folks simply weren’t happy with the carnival’s effort-to-reward ratio this year. I also shared some thoughts about the carnival in an editorial regarding the same subject.

Keep reading to take a look at the updated rewards as they currently stand.

Memory Match:
Was – 3 Prize Tickets
Now – 5 Prize Tickets

Mini Mounts Racing:
Was – 2 Prize Tickets
Now – 4 Prize Tickets

Ring Toss:
Was – 1 Prize Ticket
Now – 2 Prize Tickets

Balloon Stomp:
Was – 1 Prize Ticket
Now – 1 Prize Ticket

The rewards for Balloon Stomp have remained unchanged. Our Carnival of the Ascended 2013 Guide has also been updated with the changes.

Now, some thoughts on the changes. It does seem like there are a few more people participating in the carnival now, but this also could be largely due to the weekly quests resetting two nights ago. I’ve noticed in particular that players seem to be participating in Mini Mounts Racing and Ring Toss a little more often, but the level of participation is still nothing close to what was seen last year. What have you noticed since the hotfix so far? Were the slight boosts enough, or does Trion need to further improve aspects of the carnival?

I saw more people too, but I really don’t think it’s enough. Even with a game that gives 5 tickets, you have to do it 30 times to get the vast majority of prizes that are 150 tickets.

Even with the increased rewards, the prices are nuts. I guess I get not wanting people to be saturated with rewards, but as it stands now, I don’t even know if I’ll have the interest to get one at all. They need to cut them down at least 1/3.

Quest and do all the other stuff in the game, or grind super hard for tickets…? It’s not a hard thing to answer.

I think you saw more people because it’s the start of a new reset week and people were probably just doing the 50 carnival games weekly for their mount currency.

People SHOULD be saturated with rewards in an annual event. It’s supposed to THANK players for sticking around for another year.

Trion having grind in an anniversary event is just weird, so I kept away.

Also, is Memory Match only in the one city?

    • Laura Hardgrave

      Yeah, just in Tempest Bay.

Last year, what made the Carnival cool was that you could turn in beads for currencies from all the past events. That was a big motivator for me, and I was really looking forward to picking up some of the rewards I had missed. Now that you can only swap beads for tickets and vice versa, it’s really not worth it.

Week 1 doubloon quest, complete 50 carnival games. Week 2 Doubloon quest, Complete 50 carnival games. *facepalm*

I’ve been getting hundreds of the glass beads via the mobile application. It’s really handy if you can’t log on as often as you’d like!
