When it came to choosing an enemy to show off in TESO‘s development insider look creature feature, the votes were highly in favor of one beast that shows up in The Elder Scrolls lore quite a bit, but hasn’t quite made a debut in a game yet. That’s all about to change. This week we received a sneak peek of the wamasu, the reptilian terror of the Black Marsh. The development team talks a bit about how the creature came to life from the initial design stages all the way up to scripting its combat moves. Speaking of combat moves, here’s a hint on what we’ll see from this guy:
The wamasu, like many of our creatures, has a more complex “boss” variation. Boss variants are bigger, deadlier, and have more devastating attacks, which means more work for Effects Artists. When you see this variety of wamasu (and the effects for its attacks) in the game, we think you’ll be impressed—and maybe a little afraid.
