Rezzed 2013 Video Shows off Dungeon Combat

rezzed 2013 title

While we’ve heard bits and pieces about how telegraphed combat will work in dungeon groups, we haven’t seen a lot of it upfront in the form of videos. During the Rezzed 2013 Developer Sessions event that was held over the weekend, Carbine Studios showed off a decent chunk of boss combat in a dungeon made for groups around level 30.

Telegraphed abilities, as we know, get more and more complicated as players gain levels in WildStar. This is intentional as it encourages players to stay on their toes, learn how to effectively dodge and avoid nasty things, and essentially become smarter players. Even during this mid-level dungeon, the boss/environment telegraphed abilities look pretty complicated. Our reaction? Oh yeah– that’s awesome!

Members of the Carbine team also talked about “interrupt armor”, which is a boss characteristic which will allow groups of players to interrupt dangerous boss abilities by using their crowd control abilities in a coordinated way. Most MMORPG boss creatures are typically immune to crowd control for obvious reasons, but the goal here is to allow players to find multiple uses for CC even on bosses. This is an interesting feature, and the fact that players are limited to which abilities they can have slotted at a time may open up some interesting decision-making possibilities.

Below is the full conference video. The dungeon gameplay starts at around 25 minutes into it.
