With 2013 right around the corner, many gamers are setting their sights on predicting the next year’s shifts and exciting entries in the MMORPG world. Among the speculation, one popular prediction is the hope of ArenaNet launching or announcing the first expansion for Guild Wars 2. Given the history of Guild Wars, the current trend of MMORPG expansion launches, and the nature of ArenaNet’s GW2 updates thus far, an announced expansion this coming year seems quite likely. But taking speculation aside, we also have a bit of evidence on our hands that agrees with that predication.
In a recent Korean financial analysis, NCsoft, which is Guild Wars 2’s publisher, has reportedly recorded 2012 as being a successful year financially. This should come as no surprise to fans of the game, since even through the end of the year, Guild Wars 2 retained high sales. The financial company predicts that based off this information, ArenaNet and NCsoft should be able to release an expansion during the second half of 2013.
And meanwhile, the fans say: “Yep, saw it coming!” Happy 2013, folks!
