Carbine Studios is beginning a new series of videos to reintroduce the classes of Wildstar. Today they have released a new video showing off the warrior, it’s new mechanics and the latest build of the game. The release of the game is getting closer (Spring 2014) and we should begin to see updates on a regular basis. This Saturday, we should begin seeing live streams of the game featuring David Bass.

confirmed job requirements

Ever since the beta weekends started for Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, one question on a lot of eager players’ minds was, “What the heck are the new requirements for changing jobs?” We knew there would be some changes to the requirements, but we had no idea what they were. We were never able to test job changing during open beta, and Square Enix was being a little, well, tight-lipped. Most of us kind of guessed based off information in 1.0 and the wide range of speculation we found online. Finally, thanks to early access– now we know for sure.

Here’s the final list:

Bard: 30 Archer / 15 Pugilist
Summoner: 30 Arcanist / 15 Thaumaturge
Scholar: 30 Arcanist / 15 Conjurer
Dragoon: 30 Lancer / 15 Marauder
Black Mage: 30 Thaumaturge / 15 Archer
White Mage: 30 Conjurer / 15 Arcanist
Monk: 30 Pugilist / 15 Lancer
Warrior: 30 Marauder / 15 Gladiator
Paladin: 30 Gladiator / 15 Conjurer

Each job change will also require the completion of a quest that is obtained from the Guildmaster of the base class (the Conjuruer Guildmaster will offer the White Mage quest, for example).

These requirements have all been tested and confirmed by players active on FFXIV:ARR’s sub-Reddit (thanks, folks!).

warrior buzz 1

Ailion posted an update to the list of Warrior changes that are currently on the PTS and/or will be added shortly. Among this set of changes are adjustments to the Warlord, Champion, and Riftblade souls along with a few general balance shifts. Ailion also posted a convenient list of current goals he has in mind for improving Warrior soul synergy overall. Here are those goals:

I have added more updates to the main list in the first page. A new build that includes all these updates isn’t ready on PTS yet. I believe it will be over the weekends.

Here are some of my goals with these updates:

1) Promote synergy between the individual souls.

2) Reduce the dependence on the Riftblade as the goto spec for most aspects of game play.

3) Make Warlord a competitive ST Melee DPS soul, but comes at a cost in survivability to reach that goal.

4) Make Champion a competitive AE DPS soul while being able to excel in encounters that require both ST and AE DPS capabilities.

Parses will be appreciated. You can post your parses in this thread or PM them to me.

For the detailed, complete list of changes (including past changes), see this forum post.

e3 videos title

E3 was kind of a letdown for many WildStar fans who were hoping for a few new reveals about the game, but the event also allowed many new MMO gamers to check out WildStar for the first time, and hey– more fans are always awesome, right? Just in case you can’t get enough gameplay action, here is a collection of E3 gameplay videos that were recorded by media outlets around the community.

Gamebreaker got some HD footage of the Warrior in action while MMOHut concentrated on a bit of Stalker combat techniques and a quick explanation of the telegraph system. MMORPG.com scored an interview with Lead Combat Designer Chris Lynch who talked a bit about PvP combat, PvE combat, and the art of designing trash pulls in dungeons. Interested in taking a peek? Jump past the cut to take a look!

Cyzo posted details and a tentative schedule yesterday for how T2 raid testing will work when guilds can begin checking out the two new 20-man instances coming in RIFT 2.4. Testing is planned to begin on the PTS starting Monday, June 24th and happen on Mondays and Tuesdays. Encounters will become available in chunks of 1-3 fights per week. This schedule should allow both guilds and Trion developers to make the most out of the time spent testing.

For more information, check out the full post in the Dungeon and Raid forum.

Speaking of PTS testing, Kervik and Ailion both had updates for Mages and Warriors. Kervik posted this update yesterday:

Have some more updates for you on things heading out to PTS.

  • Burning Fury – Trying out having this as a flat crit chance increase. 2/4/6%.
  • Conflux – Changing this to be a 10 second debuff that deals damage each time a Death based DoT is applied to the enemy. Still has a 45s cooldown.
  • Dark Armor/Warlock Armor – These armors now also increase DoT damage by 5%.

Things on PTS are still largely in flux. I wanted to get these changes out to let you all see what was in the works before spending a ton of time getting all the numbers lined up. My main goal at the moment is to make sure some of the bigger changes are fun before I start locking them down to work more on numbers. However, parses are still valuable to help give an idea of what sort of specs you’re trying out and what abilities are just way too low/high on damage and may need some help sooner rather than later.

One thing I want to mention regarding the change to Burning Fury is you won’t be seeing the crit from it spread back out throughout the tree. One of the goals of this change was to reduce the value of crit power for Mages. As much as it sucks, there is going to be at least some shift in gear values and stat weights.

To check out the Warrior updates from Tuesday, please see this forum thread.

This past Sunday, Jonathan Sharp tossed out a few hints on the official forums that point in the direction toward incoming changes for Warriors who may find some of their traits and weapon abilities a little lacking when it comes to sustainability in PvP– structured PvP particularly.

We think that Warriors need more sustain in sPvP. You’ll see this reflected in upcoming balance changes.

Traits are huge in this, and just like you saw trait reworks recently for Warrior, we’ll be doing more trait changes to help to this end.

It’s Sunday, but I still wanted to jump in here to let you guys know we’re not ignoring you!

In a different thread, he added the following:

Yes, Warrior needs more help in PvP, but is already strong in PvE. Due to that you may see some new splits happening between the gametypes as far as balance goes, and you may also see new traits to help Warriors find a way into team comps.

Daglar shared a bit of good news for Warrior players who enjoy using Combat Veteran Warlord specs that also include abilities found in the Paladin soul. The Paladin soul still has a few clunky “flavor” ability requirements that require the use of a shield. This won’t be the case for much longer!

The flavor is nice on the Paladin, but at the end of the day the game play and synergy suffers for it. I’ve asked Aillion to remove the shield requirement on a number of Paladin abilities – and to rename the ones that would be silly without it.

Hm, that means a change in name for Shield Charge. ‘Shiny Wings O’ Light Charge’, anyone? Nah, probably not.
